I am happy that this film totally bombed, by modern-day “blockbuster” standards, at the box office ($77 million US / $177 million worldwide). However, that still means that there are approximately twenty million people who were stupid enough to actually pay hard-earned money to see it — a very depressing fact.
“The A-Team” represents everything that I hate about movies. It is a loud, mindless, humorless mess marketed to morons obsessed with “name-brand” titles. I often wonder if those who feel compelled to make an opening weekend trip to disasters like this are embarrassed as they mope back to their cars. Do they feel duped out of their $20? Do they awkwardly laugh to the people they are with in order to stave off their shame?
I can’t find the words or scope with which to explain or quantify the boredom I endured during this big-screen adaptation of an already lame TV-show. Sure, I liked the 1980′s series… because I was 12. In retrospect, the show is a cheap production with bad acting, repetitive story-lines and cheesy humor. What’s next – a “Chips” movie? Probably.
This is quite simply the least entertaining film of 2010… unless you are a pre-teen boy or the mental equivalent of one. If you paid good cash to see it, you deserve every moment of your wasted two hours. I have no sympathy for anyone who couldn’t see this coming.
