Born on July 26th, 1973.
She is 5' 8'' tall.
Her mother and father, Judy and Richard were both actors.In her teens, she twice won the British bookseller W. H. Smith Young Writers' competition - once for three short stories and once for three poems.
By her own account, Beckinsale's childhood and adolescence were fairly troubled, marked by struggles with anorexia.
Kate began attending Oxford University's New College in the fall of 1991, majoring in French and Russian literature.
Lived in Paris for a year or two during college.
Kate received her big break in Kenneth Branagh's film adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.
Has a beautiful daughter, Lily Sheen (b. 31 January 1999), with Welsh actor Michael Sheen.
According to an interview she gave on the UK show "The Big Breakfast" (December 2001) she hates wearing knickers (panties).
Was in the famous commercial for GAP which was directed by Cameron Crowe. (The Running Commercial).
After her appendix virtually exploded, Kate had to have emergency surgery to have the useless organ removed. She has a large scar.
