Gretchen Mol Biography and Trivia
Gretchen is without question the most underrated and underused thespian in Hollywood. She is one of the most talented actresses of her generation and consistently steals every film she is in. I can't name more than a handful of women who are endowed with more cinematic beauty than she. I could watch her watching paint dry and still be riveted to the screen. The only flaw in her career may be her choice of material... her timing has been off too. Still in her early 30's, she could yet emerge as one of the brightest stars of the next decade. I hope she does, because I think she is absolutely magnificent. I am a huge fan.
Born on November 8th, 1972 in Deep River, Connecticut.

She Graduated from the William Esper Studio.
She worked as a hat check girl at a restaurant where her agent-to-be spotted her and got her a coke commercial.

Gretchen Mol was all but declared Hollywood's new "it" girl before her career had even left the gates. An infamous Vanity Fair magazine cover. The photograph was beautiful, but the caption was hard for anyone to live up to.
She entertained performing ambitions from a young age, studying musical theatre in addition to receiving a regular public school education.
Following her high school graduation, she moved to New York, where she did a stint at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and began performing in a number of stage productions.

Mol grew up in an artistic household in Deep River, CT. Her mother is an artist and her brother, Jim Mol, is an aspiring filmmaker. At an early age, she was the focus of her mother's photography and the subject of her brother's super-eight movies. Combining dance school with the school chorus, Mol confirmed her passion for performing, which allowed her to turn her hobby into a profession.
She landed the lead role in Fox's TV drama 'Girl's Club'... I thought it was a great show, but the ratings were poor and the show was cancelled in its first season.
She continues to take master classes at the William Esper Studio.
Played the lead girl in the Moulin Rouge-inspired video for The Killers' "Mr Brightside" in 2005.
Currently Mol lives in New York City, where she can indulge her passion for watching old movies and listening to live music.
She married writer/director Tod “Kip” Williams (brother of supermodel Rachel Williams) in 2004.
The couple purchased a home in Manhattan's West Village.
She has performed on and off Broadway. She was the lead in Neil LaBute's play called 'The Shape of Things' and resumed the role in the movie version. She co-starred with Rachel Weisz.
She has won critical acclaim for most of her roles. This is especially true of her masterful portrayal of Bettie Page, for which she has been discussed as a strong Oscar contender.
Salary - $1,000,000 to $3,000,000 per film.

"I wish I could say I have this kind of big plan, but now, so much of it is what comes along the pike, and then, you just say, there's something about that role that just tickles me or sort of feels right."
"I never really have had, at its core, an issue with nudity in films except that I know when I think it's exploitative and when I think it's beautiful."
