Celebrating their birthdays today, an odd couple…
Tyra Banks is a psychopathic supermodel / TV host who ranks as one of the most voluptuous babes to ever prance down a catwalk. She is undeniably hot. Even as she turns 37 (ancient in the fashion industry), she still looks better than most models half her age. The only drawback… She is nuckin’ futs!!! She’s got a case of the crazy eyes, but I wouldn’t kick her out of bed for eating crackers.
Deanna Durbin (born Edna Mae Durbin) turns 89 today. She is a Canadian-born, southern California-raised retired singer and actress, who appeared in a number of musical films in the 1930′s and 1940′s. The huge success of her films was reported to have saved Universal Studios from bankruptcy. With legendary beauty and an angelic voice, she became one of the first actresses to ever approach a $1,000,000 salary per film.
Unfortunately, Durbin withdrew from Hollywood and retired from acting and singing in 1949. She married film producer-director Charles Henri David in 1950, and the couple moved to a farmhouse in the outskirts of Paris. Since then she has withdrawn from public life. Durbin has made it known that she did not like the Hollywood studio system. She speaks of the “Deanna persona” in the third person and considers the film character, Deanna Durbin, a by-product of her youth and not her true self. Nevertheless, Happy Birthday Deanna!

Julianne Moore is the best actress never to have won an Oscar. She has been nominated 4 times. Quite frankly, that is criminal. She should have been nominated at least six times and won at least twice. In my eyes, she is a legend. “Far From Heaven”, “Magnolia”, “Boogie Nights”, “The Hours”, “The End of the Affair”, “The Big Lebowski”, “The Myth of Fingerprints”, “Safe”, “Short Cuts”… I challenge you to name an actress with a stronger résumé than that! She also happens to be one of the most elegant and beautiful redheads of all time… even as she hits her 50th birthday.
Amanda Seyfried is “Hollywood’s Hottest Property” right now. She has been on such a role since landing the lead role in “Mamma Mia”. We shouldn’t be surprised. She is talented and charismatic and achingly gorgeous. She turns 25 today and the next ten years will define her career. I am confident that she will choose great roles on her way to becoming the most sought-after actress of her generation.
Katarina Witt is, by a distance, the greatest figure skater of all time. There has never been anyone who could match her combination of grace and power. At 45, she is over twenty years removed from her Olympic glory, when she ruled the sport with consummate ease. The lovely German ranks as one of the most beautiful women in the history of any sport.
Happy Birthday to them all.
Continue Reading...The first of two resplendent girls to celebrate their birthday today is Winona Ryder. She is oddly underrated as an actress and is criminally underused (pun intended). Clearly, the trouble she got herself into a number of years ago is still holding her back in Hollywood. However, I think she is far more talented than some others of her generation. I wish we saw more of her on the big screen. Nevertheless, Happy 39th Birthday to Winona.
Amanda Beard is 29 today. The hall of fame World and Olympic champion swimmer is the proud owner of a killer smile and one of the most athletic physiques ever seen. She has gone on to model in FHM and Playboy Magazines, and the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Amanda has also been in many TV commercials and was a correspondent for “The Best Damn Sports Show Period”. She is also a vegetarian and has done a campaign for PETA. Happy Birthday to this really lovely girl.

You may also have seen her in good movies like “The Other Side of the Bed”, “Imagining Argentina” and the superbly titled “Semen: A Love Sample”. She may be small in stature, but she is a powerful actress and I urge you to seek out some of her work. ¡feliz cumpleaños!
Our second lovely girl celebrating today is the only Republican I can stand listening to — partly because I am distracted by the hotness and partly because she is reasonably moderate with her views. Meghan McCain would be described as fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I love that this icy blond stands her ground with the bigoted half of her political party. I give her great credit for trying to pull the Republicans back from the brink of extremity. She may be the daughter of Senator John McCain, but she is really her own independent woman — refusing to be brainwashed by the tea party crazies. Happy 26th Birthday!

Saffron Burrows is a 38 year-old stunner with a 6′ 0” supermodel physique and cheekbones that could have been carved by Michelangelo. To the star of “Troy”, “The Bank Job”, “Deep Blue Sea”, “Enigma”, “The Loss of Sexual Innocence” and “Miss Julie” (her best role)… Happy Birthday!
Catherine Deneuve is the stuff of legend. A hall-of-fame French beauty who has starred in classic films such as “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”, Repulsion”, “The Young Girls of Rochefort”, “Belle de Jour”, “Tristana”, “The Last Metro”, “Indochine” and “8 Women”, Deneuve defines a generation of cinema. No woman will ever be more beautiful than she was in the 1960′s as an upstart actress in her early twenties. She was perfect. Since then, she has blossomed into one of the finest actresses of all time. She is 67 today. Joyeux anniversaire!
